FIDER ACCREDITATION

Ellen Cantor, CID, graduated from the University of Illinois and UCLAX Architecture and Interior Design Program, a FIDER accredited school.

NCIDQ CERTIFICATION

Ellen has passed the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) Exam, an extensive exam for interior designers, the equivalent to a medical specialty exam or the bar exam.

    NCIDQ is an independent organization created in the public interest to establish minimum standards for the qualification of professional interior designers. It has qualified over 9,000 interior designers since its incorporation in 1974. The Council consists of representatives from seven member organizations-American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), Council of Federal Interior Designers (CFID), Institute of Business Designers (IBD), Institute of Store Planners (ISP), Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC), Interior Designers of Canada (IDC), and International Society of Interior Designers (ISID)-as well as Representatives from American states and Canadian provinces with licensing, certification, and/or registration statutes which stipulate the NCIDQ examination for license eligibility.

CCIDC CERTIFICATION (CID)

Ellen Cantor, CID, is a Certified Interior Designer.

California Council for Interior Design Certification (CCIDC), qualifies applicants as Certified Interior Designers. Applicants must pass certain educational requirements and/or have seven years in the business. In addition, the applicant must pass a three hour exam in Building and Barrier-Free Codes administered by the National Council of Interior Design Qualifications. This exam is concerned with building codes and health and safety issues as well as issues related to access for the disabled This is especially important in light of the recent passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
